Black Pearl Boutique

Black Pearl Boutique

Situated on the second floor of Kingly Court (just off
Carnaby Street), Black Pearl is central London’s haven of rockabilly jewellery, vintage 1950’s clothing, burlesque corsets, and accessories. Many of the items available at Black Pearl are the creations of owner Fiona Deffenbaugh and other designers, such as bespoke corsetier Velda Lauder. Click here for details about Black Pearl's designers.

Fiona, who designs everything from necklaces adorned with skulls and guns to sparkly nipple tassels, finds influence in the glitz and glamour of vintage Vegas, burlesque, and rockabilly style. Her aim is to produce high quality, individual pieces for the discerning customer. She also aims to provide her customers with a Polynesian oasis of tropical décor in the middle of Soho’s retail jungle.

Upon first entering Black Pearl, shoppers are whisked away to a tropic isle via the shop’s “Polynesian tiki style,” which, according to Fiona, “evokes the spirit of 1950s tiki bars.” To give Black Pearl its distinct South Seas feel - and to set it apart from the multitude of shops around Carnaby Street - Fiona chose CheekyTiki, the UK’s only purveyors of tropical arts and décor, to redesign her space.

Here's a slide show from Black Pearl, featuring CheekyTiki's interior design work:
